Salem’s Safe Passage Program

You give them a temporary place to stay. We find their forever home.

Safe Passage is Salem’s Sanctuary’s community foster and adoption support program. It’s for people who have found a kitten, cat, or even a litter, and can care for them until adoption, but need help getting them healthy and finding the right family.

You provide a safe foster home, food, litter, daily care, photos, and updates about the cats’ health and personalities. We provide medications as directed, create adoption profiles, promote the cats online, and offer opportunities to attend our adoption events. We screen prospective adopters and coordinate placement, while the cats stay with you until they’re adopted.

The program fee is $30 per cat or $60 for a mom and litter.

Safe Passage allows us to help more cats find loving homes while keeping our rescue space available for cats in urgent need.
